Report: Arsenal set to beat Spurs and West Ham to £40m-rated striker

According to The Sun, Arsenal are set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of Tammy Abraham this summer.

Abraham excelled under Frank Lampard at the start of last season but the striker found that his opportunities dried up somewhat after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

It was previously reported that Chelsea wished to cash in on the 23-year-old and had even offered him to Spurs as part of a deal to take Harry Kane to Stamford Bridge.

The Sun have now reiterated the suggestion that Abraham is surplus to requirements under Tuchel but reveals that the striker is edging closer to a move to Arsenal.

It is said that Tottenham and West Ham have both shown interest in the England international but both clubs have been put off by Chelsea’s £40m valuation.

The report states that the Blues are willing to allow Abraham to move to the Emirates on an initial loan deal, with the Gunners having an obligation to buy the player for £40m if he makes a specified number of appearances next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt that Spurs were even in for Abraham, particularly that Chelsea have tended not to do business with us over the last decade. However, I am desperately hoping that the 23-year-old does not join Arsenal as I believe he is extremely underrated.
