Italian journalist Eleonora Trotta has told Calciomercato that Arsenal are set to make their opening offer for rumoured Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic in the next few days.
It was previously reported that Antonio Conte had put the forward at the top of his transfer shopping list since arriving in North London (Gazzetta dello Sport).
However, multiple sources have reported over recent weeks (including The Athletic and The Daily Mail) that Arsenal currently lead the race for the Fiorentina star.
Football.London claimed last week that despite the Gunners being in the ‘strongest position’ to snap up the Serbian, Tottenham still remain in the race for the striker, with Fabio Paratici hoping to use his good relationship with the player’s agent to push through a summer deal.
Trotta has now revealed that Mikel Arteta’s side are set to make an opening €60m (£50m) offer for Vlahvoic over the coming days.
The reporter added that Fiorentina are keen on selling the 21-year-old in January and that the Serie A club have already begun work to sign River Plate’s Julian Alvarez as his replacement.
Spurs Web Opinion
Given the numbers quoted by some sources for Vlahvoic over recent weeks, £50m sounds like a low-ball offer. However, Fiorentina would likely be keen to sell this month as they would know that the striker’s value is going to drop further in the summer.
