Report: Arsenal to battle Spurs for £30m-rated Premier League defender – Spurs favourites

Tottenham Hotspur have been struggling at right-back for some time now, after Kieran Trippier was sold to Atletico Madrid in the summer and no replacement was signed.

Spurs have tried five different players at right-back this season, Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Moussa Sissoko, and Serge Aurier, with the latter tying down the first-choice role under Mourinho.

However, even Aurier has left a lot to be desired defensively at times over the past month, and Spurs are reportedly now looking at new right-backs.

The Daily Mail have now reported that Spurs are the favourites to land Norwich City teenager Max Aarons, but Arsenal have now joined the race for the starlet.

The report states that £30m would be enough to get the deal over the line as early as this month, perhaps with Aarons being loaned back to Norwich for the rest of the season.

Arsenal apparently made an enquiry this week about the player, while Everton and West Ham are also interested.
