Report: Aston Villa agree fee with former Spurs transfer target

According to Sky Sports, Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Marseille to snap up reported Tottenham Hotspur target Morgan Sanson, with the midfielder expected to arrive at Villa Park next week.

Sanson has been one of Marseille’s most consistent performers for the past four years and has seen his stock rise significantly during that time.

The midfielder has been rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar in the past with Foot Mercato claiming last year that Marseille wanted to cash in on the 26-year-old and that his agent Pini Zahavi, had offered the midfielder to the North Londoners.

Le Parisien suggested in the summer that the former France under-21 international was one of the options Tottenham were looking at to bolster their options in midfield.

However, it now looks like Sanson might be Aston Villa bound, with Sky Sports revealing that Dean Smith’s men have agreed on a £14m deal with Marseille for the midfielder, which could rise to £15.5m with add ons.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sanson is a tidy player who can do a bit of everything but I am certainly not disappointed that we did not snap up him. In fact, I believe his attributes are fairly similar to that of Harry Winks and I am not convinced he would have been an upgrade on the England international.
