Report: Aston Villa and Newcastle both eyeing summer moves for Spurs player

According to a report in Torcedores (08/05/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Lucas Moura is of interest to Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

It has been an open secret for quite a while that Moura’s time at Tottenham looks set to come to an end this summer, with his contract running out in June.

The same information has now been reported by Torcedores, who say that the North London club have no intention of extending the winger’s contract and that he is now ‘free’ to talk to other clubs and study the offers that come his way.

The report states that Flamengo would like to bring Moura back to Brazil but the player is thought to prefer to remain in Europe for the time being, which gives an advantage to the likes of Villa and Newcastle.

Apart from those two clubs, the likes of Lazio, Marseille, AS Roma and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also thought to be keeping tabs on the 30-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that Moura is attracting interest from Premier League clubs as I believe that he could still be an effective impact substitute at the top level as long as his injury woes are behind him.

However, if the 30-year-old wants regular football under his belt, he would be better served moving to France or Italy.
