Report: Aston Villa interested in signing Spurs player this summer

The Telegraph have reported that Aston Villa are interested in signing Tottenham’s Harry Winks this summer as the club look to move early in the market.

The report claims that Villa have already had two bids rejected for Arsenal’s Emile Smith-Rowe but remain keen on the midfielder.

James Ward-Prowse, Todd Cantwell and Dwight McNeil are also mentioned as possible targets as Villa look to strengthen in central midfield this summer.

Reports have revealed earlier this month that Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for Winks are a season on the fringes of the starting XI.

Winks came through the academy under Mauricio Pochettino but has seemingly fallen down the pecking order for club and country over the past 12 months. The midfielder played just 15 Premier League games for the Lilywhites last season.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I expect Spurs to cash in on Winks this summer and replace him in the squad with Oliver Skipp. It just makes financial sense. I also think that Winks is still a great player and will flourish at a club like Villa with consistent minutes.
