Report: Aston Villa lead Spurs in race for £30m Fabio Paratici target

According to Calciomercato, Aston Villa are currently the likeliest club to acquire the signature of Tottenham target Weston McKennie.

The USA international looks to be on his way out of Juventus, with the Old Lady reportedly willing to listen to offers from sides around Europe for the midfielder.

Despite the Serie A giants exercising a €25m option to buy the midfielder in March last season, the 22-year-old looks to already be heading out of Turin.

Current Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici likely has a personal interest in McKennie, with the sporting chief originally signing the American on loan for Juventus from Schalke back in 2019.

However, Calciomercato report that Spurs may not be a likely destination for the midfielder, as the north Londoners are keen to negotiate a loan deal, which ‘would not satisfy’ Juventus.

A swap deal between current Spurs outcast Moussa Sissoko and McKennie had also been mooted, but Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims no negotiations are in progress between the two clubs.

Spurs face stiff competition from across the Premier League, with Aston Villa reportedly willing to make a ‘cash-only’ offer between £30m-£35m. Though, it is currently unknown whether Dean Smith’s side would be willing to meet Juventus’ valuation of McKennie.

Paratici’s previous links to McKennie and Juventus could make a deal easier to strike than perhaps stated. However, it is likely that Spurs will continue to pursue some form of loan offer for McKennie, which will be challenging considering Juventus are insisting on a permanent transfer.
