Report: Aston Villa set to beat Spurs to deal for striker

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are expected to lose out to Aston Villa in the race for highly-rated Barcelona youngster Louie Barry.

The talented 16-year-old forward moved from West Bromwich Albion to Barcelona last June but he is reportedly unsettled at the Catalan capital due to recent coaching changes.

He is said to be keen on a return to England and Barcelona are said to be open to selling him for £3 million this month.

The report claims that both Spurs and Aston Villa were interested in taking the youngster off Barca’s hands but that it is the Villans who are reportedly set to win the race for his signature.

West Brom’s former academy manager Mark Harrison is now in charge at Villa and would represent the opportunity for the pair to work together once more.

The Baggies are said to be furious about the potential transfer and are taking legal advice whilst also having held discussions with Football League over the circumstance that the transfer could be pre-meditated.

Spurs Web Opinion

Teenagers’ values seem to be going up every transfer window as clubs try to spot and sign talents at a young age. However, with young players, there is no guarantee that they are going to develop into the complete article. With Parrott already at the club, I am not sure bringing in another highly-rated young forward is the way to go for Spurs.
