Report: Aston Villa star has ignored Spurs and Arsenal interest to agree new deal

TEAMtalk have revealed that Ollie Watkins has rejected Tottenham’s advances in favour of remaining at Villa Park.

Watkins has had a brilliant campaign so far, having found the back of the net 15 times across all competitions.

The striker has particularly been on fire over the last couple of months, with 11 of those strikes coming in his most recent 12 appearances.

TEAMtalk have revealed that the 27-year-old’s impressive recent form has attracted the attention of several big hitters, including Spurs.

Tottenham’s North London rivals, Arsenal, and Newcastle United also allegedly expressed interest in the Villa star through his representatives.

It is explained that while Watkins considered his options, he decided to stay put at Villa Park as he believes the club is moving in the right direction under Unai Emery.

It is asserted that the England international has now agreed on the terms of a new deal, with only the formalities to be sorted out before the West Midlands club officially announce it.

Tottenham would certainly need reinforcements in the forward line this summer even if Harry Kane stays, with Arnaut Danjuma set to return to Villarreal and Lucas Moura on his way out.

However, I doubt the club will make a decision on who to pursue before they officially confirm a new head coach.
