Report: Atletico Madrid enter race for player offered to Spurs

TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that Atletico Madrid have now entered the race for Goncalo Guedes, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Guedes has been a consistent performer for Valencia over the last four seasons, finishing the last campaign with seven goals and the same number of assists in all competitions.

Valencia radio journalist, Domingo Ortiz was the first to report last month that Tottenham could go after the Portuguese international if they hired Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head coach.

Deporte Valenciano then revealed a couple of weeks ago that Nuno had been offered the chance to sign Guedes by Jorge Mendes, who represents both the Spurs boss and the Valencia star.

In fact, it was asserted that the super-agent was ‘going with everything’ to get the 24-year-old to Spurs.

However, if the latest update by TMW is to be believed, Guedes could be on his way to Atletico this summer.

The report revealed that Diego Simione has identified the former Paris Saint-Germain man as a player who can bolster the La Liga club’s forward line.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect us to go for Guedes this summer as the 24-year-old is at his best when cutting in from the left, the same as both Bergwijn and Son. Now that Nuno has confirmed that Bale will not be returning to Spurs, I would expect us to sign a wide player who is comfortable playing on the right.
