Report: Atletico Madrid make £71m offer for reported Spurs target

While all of Tottenham’s focus will be on the Champions League final coming up in two days, this summer is a crucial one for the club.

After not having added a single player to the squad in the last two transfer windows, the squad is in serious need for some reinforcements with summer.

The full-back positions are among the areas the club are said to be seeking upgrades with Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell being among the names linked with the club (The Telegraph).

The 22-year-old has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons, and his performances have seen him win six caps for England recently.

According to a report in The Sun, Atletico Madrid have now made an offer worth £71 million, for Chilwell’s services.

The report claims that Atletico have identified the England man as among the players who can replace Lucas Hernandez and Felipe Luis, who are both leaving the club in the summer.

Manchester City are also said to be holding an interest in the Leicester defender (AS).

Spurs Web Opinion

Chilwell is extremely talented and given his age, he will be an asset for close to a decade for whichever team signs him. However, given the price being discussed, we at Spurs Web believe Tottenham will be better off holding on to both Danny Rose and Ben Davies for at least one more year so that they can prioritize the right full back and central midfield positions this summer.
