Report: Atletico Madrid star is on Tottenham’s radar this summer

The Evening Standard have claimed that Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco is on Tottenham’s radar this summer.

Spurs are reportedly in the market for a wing-back this summer, with the North Londoners expected to cash in on Sergio Reguilon (Football Insider).

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic, who played a key role in the Bundesliga club’s Europa League triumph, has been mentioned as a target for the Lilywhites (Football.London).

Over the last couple of days, Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic has emerged as Tottenham’s top target for the left wing-back role, with reports indicating that Antonio Conte’s men are closing in on a deal for the Croat (Fabrizio Romano).

It was reported during the January transfer window (The Athletic’s David Ornstein) that Atletico Madrid rejected Tottenham’s offer for Carrasco and the Premier League club have been backed to revive their interest in the Belgian international this summer (El Chiringuito journalist Juanfe Sanz).

If The Evening Standard are to be believed, Carrasco still remains an option for Spurs, with the report claiming that the Atletico star’s name has been ‘mentioned’ along with Kostic and Perisic in the Tottenham’s transfer plans.

Carrasco is right-footed and has experience as a left-winger and inverted left-wing-back, although one would assume he could also operate from the right on his stronger foot.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the reports over the last 48 hours, it now seems increasingly likely that Spurs will snap up Perisic. So, that likely rules out a move for either Carrasco or Kostic.

If Tottenham’s pursuit of the Croat falls through for some reason, they might reignite their interest in the Atletico star but the Inter star seems to be Conte’s preferred choice for the left wing-back role.
