Tottenham Hotspur managed to hold onto one of their best players in Christian Eriksen this summer, despite the fact that the player himself claimed he wanted a move away.

Eriksen said that he was looking for a new challenge and a step up after the Champions League Final defeat to Liverpool (Ekstra Bladet).

However, the European transfer window is now shut until January, meaning that Eriksen remains a Tottenham player for the significant future.

Pochettino also started the Great Dane in the North London Derby at the weekend, with Eriksen even grabbing the opener, which hints that he will remain a first-team regular.

One man who Spurs did choose to sell this summer was right-back Kieran Trippier, who moved to Atletico Madrid in Spain.

AS now claim that Atletico want Christian Eriksen to join his ex-Spurs teammate in La Liga in January, as Spurs may be forced to sell up or lose the Dane on a free in the summer.

  1. I really think Eriksen should sign a new deal with better pay and a buy out clause. I can’t understand why a player would want to look back on his career and be rightly hated by a club that loved him for running down his contract and shafting the club, the coach and his team mates in the process. I did find it very unsettling seeing how friendly Guardiola was with Eriksen when we played City, as David Silva finishes his career at the exact moment Eriksen’s contract runs out, and Eriksen would be the perfect replacement, although I would really hope Christian wouldn’t do that to Spurs.
I think we really need the Eriksen situation sorted soon.

  2. We already knew this. What`s new about this!? He is holding out for RM or eventually Barca if something happens between now and Jan that derails their seasons somehow. There is a slim chance he could sign a 3 year deal but that would include a release clause which Levy does not really do, which is why i have questioned the “leaked” document that Alderweireld had a 25 mill clause in his contract.
