Report: Atletico willing to sell player Spurs want for £26.8m in January

According to Fichajes.net, Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who could leave the La Liga club in January.

The report states that Tottenham have identified Oblak as Hugo Lloris’ potential successor between the sticks and that the North London club are facing competition from Manchester United for the goalkeeper.

The report states that the Slovenian’s current contract in the Spanish capital runs out at the end of the season and he is not in a hurry to sign a renewal.

Oblak is said to be waiting for lucrative offers from across Europe and is even open to negotiating a deal with clubs in January ahead of a free transfer next summer.

In order to avoid losing the experienced goalkeeper for free, it is asserted that Atletico are willing to listen to offers for the player in January.

Fichajes.net state that Los Colchoneros would be willing to sell the 29-year-old for €30m (£26.8m) in January, with Diego Simeone thought to have identified Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez as a potential replacement.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham do make a move for a goalkeeper, who they view as Lloris’ successor, it will probably be a young, up-and-coming goalkeeper like Illan Meslier, who the club can loan back out. I do not see us signing an experienced star like Oblak, given that Lloris appears to have at least a couple of more years left in him at the top level.
