Report: Bale to be put on intensive training programme at Spurs

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to put Gareth Bale on an intensive training programme in an effort to get him to his peak condition as quickly as possible.

The report reveals that the minor formalities that were left to be completed in the transfer were done so on Thursday, with the Welshman set to put pen to paper on a contract with Spurs today.

However, it will be a while yet before 31-year-old is available for selection by Jose Mourinho, as he is said to be suffering from a minor knee problem that he picked up on international duty with Wales.

Having played just 215 minutes of football for club and country since February, it is said that Bale still needs to build up his match fitness considerably, with Tottenham’s conditioning team estimating it to take around four weeks to get him back into tip-top shape.

The club have reportedly designed a meticulous schedule for the returning star over the next month that is designed to get him into his peak fitness as soon as possible.

Given that this is a short-term loan deal, there will be pressure on the medical and coaching staff to get him on the pitch as quickly as possible and I suspect we will see him being given a few cameos even before he is 100 per cent. However, the last thing we need is him breaking down with a serious injury and so they need to be cautious about not rushing him back.
