Report: Barcelona assessing Spurs players over possible Coutinho swap deal

According to a report from Sport, Barcelona are assessing various Tottenham Hotspur players who could potentially be included in a Philippe Coutinho transfer.

There have been contradictory reports over the past few weeks regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Coutinho.

While some have indicated that Spurs are prepared to pay a multi-million-pound loan fee to sign the Brazilian on a season-long loan (Football Insider), other reports suggest that the 27-year-old’s wages have put the Lilywhites off (Marca).

Sport now claim that Barcelona are desperate to sell Coutinho permanently this summer and do not want to do send the midfielder out on loan again.

The report suggests that the Catalan giants are looking to sell him to one of either Tottenham or Chelsea.

Since Barca are said to be aware that their €90m valuation of the former Liverpool star is unlikely to be met, they are willing to accept €50-60m in cash and a player worth around €30million.

The reigning La Liga champions are said to be examining Tottenham and Chelsea’s current defenders, as well as their central and left-sided attacking midfielders, to access whether a swap deal would be possible.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot think of too many of our defenders or attacking midfielders that Barcelona would want and we would be willing to sell. If there rumoured interest in Foyth is true, that is something we can potentially use to our advantage. Ndombele is said to be another player who is interesting the Catalan giants but he looks like he is set to stay at Spurs for at least another season.
