Report: Barcelona attacker’s name ‘stands out’ on Tottenham’s wishlist

Fichajes.net have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a move for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, who is looking to leave Camp Nou in January.

Torres has failed to live up to expectations since his switch to Barca from Manchester City two years ago and it was reported last summer that Spurs were considering bringing him back to the Premier League (CalcioMercatoWeb).

The 23-year-old ended up staying but he has since dropped further down Xavi Hernandez’s pecking order, having started just over a third of the club’s league matches so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Postecolgou wants Ferran Torres from Barcelona

Fichajes have now stated that among the names on Tottenham’s wishlist for January, the Barca star ‘stands out’.

It is alleged that Torres would ‘welcome a change of scenery’ next month, given his struggles for game time with the La Liga giants this season.

The report adds that the Spain international’s success at City makes him an ‘attractive proposition’ for Spurs, with the forward’s versatility said to appeal to Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs Web Opinion

Torres certainly seems like the exact profile that Tottenham would be looking for, with the Spaniard being capable of playing across the front three. Perhaps the North London club can tempt Barca by including Lo Celso as part of the deal, with Xavi reportedly being a big fan of the Argentine.
