Report: Barcelona could enter race for player Spurs are allegedly ready to bid for

Sport have claimed that Barcelona are now contemplating entering the race to sign Tottenham target Santiago Gimenez in January.

Over the last few weeks, we have relayed various reports which have indicated that Tottenham are one of several European giants who have their eye on the prolific Gimenez in January (90 min).

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel last week that Spurs have been watching the prolific Mexican for some time and suggested that Feyenoord would be open to selling him for €45m (£39m).

A couple of days ago, The Daily Mirror even asserted that the Lilywhites are fully convinced about the 22-year-old after scouting him during Feyenoord’s Champions League encounter against Lazio and that the Premier League side are willing to meet the Dutch club’s asking price.

Barca could enter the race for Santiago Gimenez

If Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham could now face competition from Barcelona for Gimenez’s signature.

The report states that Robert Lewandowski could receive offers from Saudi Arabia in January and while the Pole does not want to leave Camp Nou, the Catalan club are ‘attentive’ to market opportunities.

Should they sell the former Bayern Munich star, it is alleged that they could use the funds from the sale to sign Gimenez.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like a whole host of clubs across Europe are likely to vie for Gimenez’s signature in January. Tottenham do not tend to get involved in bidding wars, which is why the club might turn their attention elsewhere if the deal proves too complicated to complete.
