Report: Barcelona could make move to sign Spurs defender this summer

According to the Mirror, Barcelona could make a move to sign Juan Foyth this summer after Tottenham put the defender up for sale.

Speculation regarding Foyth’s future has grown over the past few weeks with several reports suggesting that the defender could be on his way out of North London.

The 23-year-old’s agent recently admitted that the defender is unhappy with the lack of game time at the club recently (talkSPORT). Spurs are said to be ready to sell the Argentine for £10 million this summer (Calcio Mercato).

Mundo Deportivo reported earlier in the week that Spurs had offered the former Estudiantes man to a whole host of European clubs, including Barcelona. The Mirror now claim that the Catalan giants are keen on signing the Spurs defender this summer.

It is said that Barcelona view Foyth as a relatively cheap replacement for Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo, who are expected to leave the club when the transfer market opens.

Spurs Web Opinion

As outlandish as this transfer link sounds, it wouldn’t surprise me if Barcelona did go for Foyth. They are clearly short of transfer funds this summer and the Argentine would suit the Catalans style of play. He could potentially be a hit at the Camp Nou.
