Report: Barcelona defender an ‘option’ for Jose Mourinho

Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo, according to Spanish news outlet Diario Gol.

The report claims that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has considered Firpo as an ‘option’ for his summer transfer activity.

Sergio Reguilon has arguably been Tottenham’s signing of the summer alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the former Real Madrid man having provided a much needed attacking outlet on the left flank.

The Spaniard’s recent injury has once again highlighted Ben Davies’ limitations in respect of a lack of pace and crossing ability that Reguilon possesses.

Firpo has struggled for regular game time with the Catalan giants this season having only made 14 appearances in all competitions (transfermartkt), with Jordi Alba established as Ronald Koeman’s first choice.

The report questions whether Barcelona would be prepared to sell Firpo, despite their difficult financial situation given the fact that it would leave them exposed to risk if Alba was missing.
