Report: Barcelona defender previously linked with Spurs being considered for sale

According to a report by Portuguese publication O Jogo, Barcelona could be ready to sell Nelson Semedo next summer.

Tottenham were linked with a £30 million move for Samedo earlier in the year (The Mirror) and his availability could spark interest the Lilywhites.

The Portuguese right back has failed to manage to nail down a regular starting place at the Camp Nou with manager Ernesto Valverde preferring to select Sergi Roberto on the right side of his defence.

The Spanish giants are also said to be open on cashing in on him in order to finance their future transfer spending.

It is also revealed that the 26-year-old was close to a move to Atletico Madrid but that the deal fell through, potentially opening the door for other clubs including Spurs.

Tottenham have had their fair share of problems at right-back with Serge Aurier’s inconsistency costing the team on several occasions while Kyle Walker-Peters has hardly featured.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not a fan of Samedo and I don’t think he will be much of an improvement on Aurier. The Portuguese full back is neither great defensively nor does he create a lot going forward. I would prefer the club to take a gamble on a young talent like Max Aarons who seems to have settled down fine in the Premier League.
