Report: Barcelona desperate to find buyers for rumoured Spurs targets

Tottenham have been linked with a handful of Barcelona players over the last couple of months including the likes of Nelson Semedo, Samuel Umtiti (Sky Sports), Philippe Coutinho (Football Insider) and Ivan Rakitic (Mundo Deportivo).

Arthur Melo, who was also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar (Mundo Deportivo), has already joined Juventus, in a swap deal that saw Miralem Pjanic moving to the Camp Nou.

Marca claim that the Catalan giants are still keen to find buyers for as many as twelve players in their squad.

Semedo, Umtiti, Coutinho and Rakitic are all reportedly among the set of names who have been made available for sale by Barca.

It is said that the club have not given up hope of signing Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez this summer but would need to bring in a considerable amount of funds through player sales in order to achieve his signature.

Among the aforementioned players, it is said that they are particularly having trouble finding a buyer for Coutinho, who has also been linked with a loan move to Spurs.

Marca allege that Barca know they are unlikely to see their valuation for their players met this summer and are hoping that they can potentially complete swap deals.

Spurs Web Opinion

Among the various Barca players we have been linked with, I do not think too many would be upgrades for us. I would have certainly taken Arthur Melo, now that it looks like Ndombele might be on his way out.

However, none of the other deals make much sense. Semedo is defensively suspect while Coutinho has had an extremely poor couple of seasons. Umtiti would be a decent addition but his injury record would make it a risky transfer to go for.
