Report: Barcelona forward not keen on PL move despite potential Spurs offer

The print edition of Spanish publication Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have revealed that reported Tottenham target Antoine Griezmann is not in favour of a move to the Premier League this summer.

Tottenham are reportedly looking to strengthen their forward line this window, with Nuno Espirito Santo thought to be keen on employing a formation with two strikers next season.

Griezmann is rumoured to be one of the options on Spurs’ radar, with L’Equipe claiming last week that Barcelona had offered the North Londoners the chance to sign the forward and ABC Sport asserting that the Lilywhites could ‘meet all expectations’ set.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has admitted that the La Liga giants are open to offers for the French international as the club are prioritising balancing their books.

Sport have now asserted that ‘a potential offer came’ from Spurs for Griezmann but the forward was not keen on starting a new adventure in the Premier League.

It is explained that returning to Atletico Madrid would be the World Cup winner’s preference, with the 30-year-old allegedly prepared to take a salary cut to move back to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

Griezmann certainly does not seem to fit with the profile of players Fabio Paratici has targeted so far in this transfer window. So, I am surprised by Sport’s claim that Tottenham made an offer for the Frenchman.
