Report: Barcelona have contacted representatives of alleged Spurs target

SPORT have revealed that Barcelona have entered the race to sign Torino right-back Wilfried Singo, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Singo’s stock rose massively owing to his impressive displays at right wing-back for Torino during the 2021-22 season, and Spurs were linked with a move for the youngster during the summer transfer window.

Tuttosport reported back in April that Conte is ‘in love with’ the 21-year-old and Fabio Paratici was already laying the groundwork to bring him to Spurs.

However, Singo ended up staying put in Turin, with Tottenham snapping up Djed Spence from Middlesbrough instead.

Torino Granata reported last week that the right-back is expected to leave the Serie A club at the end of the current season.

The report explained that despite the Ivorian’s current contract running out next summer, there is an automatic renewal in his deal which will last until 2024, with Torino expected to listen to offers for the player next summer.

If Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Barcelona also have an eye on Singo ahead of next summer’s transfer window.

The report states that the Catalan giants have reached out to the representatives of the Torino star as well as Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot regarding a switch to Camp Nou.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have no doubt that Spurs will be in the market for a right wing-back next summer as Emerson has not proven to be a good fit for the role while Doherty is not a long-term option as he is set to turn 31 soon.

I suspect Spence will be slowly integrated into the side during the second half of the season, and the club might bring in Singo to compete with the England Under-21 international next season.
