Report: Barcelona interested in signing Spurs player but need to raise funds first

According to The Telegraph, Barcelona are interested in a summer move for Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Reguilon struggled to adapt to the demands of the left wing-back role following Antonio Conte’s arrival at Tottenham and fell behind Ryan Sessegnon in the pecking order during the final few months of the campaign.

Spurs have strengthened that area of the pitch by snapping up Ivan Perisic on a free transfer, and the Croat is reportedly expected to share the burden with Sessegnon next season (Football.London).

It looks increasingly likely that Reguilon has already played his final game for the Lilywhites, with reports indicating that the North London club are listening to offers for the Spaniard (Football Insider).

Fabrizio Romano claimed on his YouTube channel (27/5/22) last month that the 25-year-old is attracting interest from several top clubs and will have plenty of options to choose from this summer.

According to The Telegraph’s latest update, Barcelona are one of the clubs keen on snapping up the Tottenham man.

However, the report adds that the Catalan giants would need to raise funds before they can bid for Reguilon due to their current financial situation.

One would expect plenty of La Liga clubs to show interest in Reguilon this summer, given how he excelled on loan at Sevilla during the 2019/20 campaign. The 25-year-old certainly has some useful attributes and has proven to be a competent left-back but he lacks the required composure in the final third to play as a wing-back in Conte’s system.
