Report: Barcelona ready to challenge Spurs for midfielder

If recent reports in the press are to be believed, Spurs are seeking reinforcements in several positions in the summer with center midfield being one of them.

One of the players who Spurs have been linked with is Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek (The Mirror). The 22-year-old has been in excellent form for the Dutch giants this season, and his consistency is one of the main reasons behind Ajax’s success.

The Dutch international who came graduated through Ajax’s famous academy has also been in prolific form in front of goal having netted 17 times in all competitions.

It now looks like Spurs have some competition for Van de Beek, as a report in El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona are also interested in securing the midfielder’s services.

The Catalan club have already secured the services of Frenkie de Jong, and the report claims that they also wish De Ligt and Van de Beek to accompany their teammate to the Camp Nou.

Spurs Web Opinion

It looks like Ajax are going to be ripped apart in the summer just as Monaco were a couple of seasons ago after their amazing Champions League run. It is a shame to see but if a couple of players move on, other stars might also be tempted to follow.

Spurs can certainly profit by adding a player or two from the Dutch champions and Van de Beek would certainly be a brilliant acquisition as he has been a bit of an unsung hero in this Ajax set up.
