Report: Barcelona reject approach from Spurs for midfielder

Barcelona have rejected a £1.8 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Lucas de Vega, according to Sport.

The report suggests that the La Liga giants are prepared to allow the 20-year-old to leave the Camp Nou if they receive an offer in the region of £3.5 million along with the same amount of money in add-ons to take a potential fee to around £7million.

The central midfielder has attracted interest from club’s in the Spanish second division after he impressed on loan at Cartegena last season.

The Brazilian is said to have a staggering £70million release clause in his contract despite never having made a first-team appearance for the Catalans.

Sporting Gijon, Malaga, Tenerife and Real Zaragoza are all said to be keen on de Vega with the report labelling his future with Barcelona as unclear despite being happy for him to continue his development with the former La Liga champions for future seasons.
