Report: Barcelona set to make offer for 19-year-old wanted by Spurs

According to a report from SPORT1, Barcelona are set to make an offer for RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi, who is also thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Adeyemi established himself as a regular in Salzburg’s starting eleven last season but the 19-year-old has taken his game to a new level this campaign.

The striker has notched up 11 goals in 13 Austrian Bundesliga games as well as a further three goals in four matches in the group stags of the Champions League.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that the German international was attracting interest from clubs across the continent, with Spurs and Newcastle said to be showing interest in bringing the player to the Premier League.

However, if SPORT1’s latest update is to be believed, the race for Adeyemi’s signature looks to be between Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.

The report claims that while Dortmund are leading the race for the youngster, they could now be pipped to the striker’s signature by the Catalan giants.

New Barca boss Xavi is alleged to be a big fan of the teenager and the club are said to be ready to pay €40m (£33.6m) to land the striker.

It is also asserted that Adeyemi is attracted by the prospect of moving to Camp Nou.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure whether Adeyemi is on Tottenham’s wishlist but it seems unlikely that the youngster would come to the Premier League.

However, given Barca’s financial issues, I would not be surprised if Dortmund win the race for the 19-year-old’s signature, particularly given that the player might be keen to return to Germany.
