Report: Barcelona set to rival Spurs for Real Betis player

Tottenham Hotspur were last week linked with a move for Real Betis defender Junior Firpo (Diario de Sevilla – 13/7/19).

Spurs could be in the market for a new left-back after Danny Rose was left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East in order to stay in England to focus on a potential exit from the club he has been at for the past twelve years (Telegraph).

However, should Spurs want to proceed with their interest in Firpo, they will have to go up against Barcelona who are said to have made the Spanish Under-21 international their first choice left-back to make the move to the Nou Camp this summer (Marca).

Firpo’s contract contains a €50million release clause which the Catalan giants are ready to negotiate by potentially offering Betis a player in exchange as part of a deal.

If Rose were to leave Spurs this summer, it would leave Ben Davies as the club’s only experienced left-back. However, they are said to be interested in Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon (Telegraph).
