Report: Barcelona yet to rule out summer transfer for 25-year-old Spurs star

Barcelona have yet to rule out a move for Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Reguilon, who joined Spurs from Real Madrid two seasons ago, has undergone a fairly mixed campaign under the guidance of Antonio Conte.

The 25-year-old was a fixture in the early stages of Conte’s tenure but lost his place in the side to Ryan Sessegnon for a brief spell this year.

He was also an injury absentee for Tottenham’s 5-1 mauling of Newcastle last week, which saw the club lift itself above rivals Arsenal into the Premier League top four.

And despite Reguilon’s tricky period in 2022, Mundo Deportivo reports Barcelona are keeping tabs on him ahead of a potential move back to Spain this summer.

Manager Xavi is keen to bring in a new left-back ahead of the new campaign to reinforce his options alongside Jordi Alba, who turned 33 last month.

The report states that Reguilon is one of the options under consideration if current number one target, Celta Vigo’s Javi Galan, cannot be acquired.

Spurs Web Opinion

It has been a pretty up and down season for Reguilon, to say the least, which is a shame considering we haven’t seen his best at Spurs yet.

Spurs may well look to cash in on him this summer if a good offer is presented in front of them, and a move back to Spain could be a good one for him.

The question will then be whether he would move to Barcelona given his previous links with bitter rivals Real.
