Report: ‘Bargain’ transfer is still ‘conceivable’ for Tottenham this summer

While Bild are not sure if Tottenham would take up the option to sign Timo Werner permanently this summer, they suggest that the deal is very much on the cards.

Werner will not get a chance to impress Ange Postecoglou any further as his season has now ended following a hamstring injury that he picked up in the North London derby.

Tottenham now have to decide on whether to activate the £15m option to buy the German permanently from RB Leipzig, with the clause only being active until June 15 (TEAMtalk).

Postecoglou said on Wednesday that while he has been pleased with the impact the 28-year-old has made since arriving at the club in January, a decision on the player’s future would only be made in the summer (Football.London).

Timo Werner to Tottenham is still on the cards

On the back of Werner’s season-ending injury, Bild now analyse the forward’s situation and whether he is expected to head to Tottenham.

They say that while his situation is ‘unclear’ as of now, it is very much ‘conceivable’ that Tottenham will buy the player this summer.

The report highlights that Postecoglou had previously praised Werner and points out that the fee would represent a ‘bargain’ for the North London club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be quite surprised if Tottenham do not take up the option to buy Werner, given the low fee involved. I suspect Postecoglou would be happy to have the German around as a squad player for next season as he seeks to build a squad which can compete on multiple fronts.
