Report: Bayern Munich enter race for Atalanta star linked with Tottenham

According to a report in Tuttosport (29/11/12 as relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb), Bayern Munich have entered the race for Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Scalvini has had a meteoric rise over the last 12 months since making his senior debut for Atalanta in October of last year. The 18-year-old has not just gone on to establish himself as a regular for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this season but has also been capped three times for Italy.

CalcioMercatoWeb claimed earlier this month that Fabio Paratici was plotting a double-raid of Atalanta in January, with the Spurs managing director said to be exploring deals for Scalvini and Ruslan Malinovskyi.

The publication claimed that the North London club could launch an offer of around €30m-€35m (£25.9m-£30.2m) for the pair.

According to Tuttosport’s latest update, Bayern are now considering an offer for Scalvini during the January transfer window.

The report explains that the centre-back, who is also being watched by both Inter Milan and Juventus, is valued at between €30m-€40m (£25.9m-£34.5).

Spurs Web Opinion

The CMW.it report and the TuttoSport one have suggested two different values, with the former claiming that a double deal for Scalvini and Malinovskyi might cost £30m while the latter explains that the centre-back alone is valued at that amount.

TuttoSport’s valuation seems much more realistic, given how highly sought after Scalvini is by top clubs around Europe ahead of the January transfer window.
