Report: Bayern Munich enter race for Spurs-linked right-back

Signing a new right-back is reported to be one of Jose Mourinho’s priorities when the transfer market opens, with Norwich City’s Max Aarons said to be one of the North Londoners’ targets (ESPN).

The right-back enjoyed a decent first season in the Premier League and was one of a handful of Norwich players to have done their reputations no harm this season despite the club’s relegation.

While links to the likes of Spurs imply that it won’t be surprising to see Aarons still plying his trade in the Premier League next season, it has now emerged that the defender could instead be Bundesliga-bound.

Sky in Germany claim that Bayern Munich have been impressed with what they have seen of Aarons this season and are keen to snap him up.

The German giants, who won the Bundesliga crown for the eighth consecutive time this season, are reportedly ready to pay €20million (£18.3m) for Aarons’ signature.

It is claimed that Bayern see the 20-year-old as the ideal cover for Benjamin Pavard. Although the Norwich star is also reportedly wanted by Bayer Leverkusen, it is claimed that a move to the Allianz Arena would be his preference.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sky in Germany are normally a reliable source and this news does sound like it might well have some truth to it. Aarons would actually be a good fit for the Bundesliga and I can see him developing his game in Germany. I would not be too displeased if he does end up moving to Bayern, as I personally feel there are better options out there, even for the reported price. Timothy Castagne seems to be another one we are after and I am convinced he will be a terrific fit for our system.
