Report: Bayern Munich enter race for target Spurs allegedly bid for in January

Bayern Munich are interested in signing alleged Tottenham target Djed Spence from Middlesbrough, according to Sky Sports.

Spence has been enjoying a successful spell on loan at Nottingham Forest this term, which has inspired the side to launch a push for promotion from the Championship.

The English wing-back has since courted plenty of interest from the Premier League and around Europe, with Tottenham said to be part of a dozen sides monitoring his progress (Express).

Sky Sports now claim that German giants Bayern have entered the frame for Spence, 21, and have been tracking his recent performances for Forest ahead of a potential move this summer.

It adds that if he continues to impress, the Bavarian side could make an official approach to Boro ‘in the coming weeks’ to secure his signature ahead of next season.

Spurs pushed for Spence throughout the January transfer window, but could not seal a deal with his parent club who are said to be holding out on a fee of at least £15 million (90min).

Spence has recorded 32 appearances in all competitions this season, notching two goals and three assists (Transfermarkt).

As expected, there will be a pretty big fight to land Spence this summer. Middlesborough hold the cards in this situation and will rightly demand a selling price of their choice, and they will be loving the fact that so many top clubs are entering the picture for him.
