According to journalist Rahman Osman, Bayern Munich may turn their attention to Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani if they fail in their attempts to land Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane this summer.
The speculation surrounding Harry Kane‘s future at Tottenham has arguably been the biggest transfer story of the summer so far, and the situation reached a crucial stage over the last 24 hours.
Bayern Munich have been pursuing the England captain during the transfer window, and are believed to have made a take-it-or-leave-it offer for Kane yesterday. The German giants expected Spurs and Daniel Levy to respond with a ‘quick decision’ (Sky Sports News).
Apparently, the Bundesliga champions had implemented a deadline of midnight last night for Tottenham to accept the offer, thought to be worth over £100m after bonus payments, and had threatened to move on to other targets if necessary (ESPN).
If Kane were to leave Tottenham, it has been claimed that the Lilywhites would look to Frankfurt attacker Randal Kolo Muani as a replacement (BILD).
Bayern and PSG both want Randal Kolo Muani
Spurs already know they will have a fight on their hands to snap up the 24-year-old, but it now appears Bayern Munich could swoop for Muani if they can’t land Kane, while the player himself is open to joining PSG.
Rahman Osman claims Bayern are not going to make any further attempts to sign the Spurs man if this latest “huge bid” doesn’t succeed, and they already have Muani on a “list of alternatives” if they do decide to move on.
Meanwhile, Fabrice Hawkins reports on Muani’s own standpoint, and said: “Randal Kolo Muani announced for the very first time to his leaders that he wants to leave Frankfurt this summer. [He] is interested in PSG who should position themselves concretely after finalising Goncalo Ramos.”
Spurs Web Opinion
If Bayern do move on to other targets, that likely means Kane is staying put, and we don’t need to worry about who signs Randal Kolo Muani then.
The only problem would be if PSG sign Muani, and Bayern get Kane, then we would have to look elsewhere, but we are hardly likely to compete with these clubs for his signing anyway.
