Report: Bayern Munich launch offer for teenager allegedly wanted by Tottenham

According to De Telegraaf (20/03/22 edition – as relayed by Football Oranje) Bayern Munich have submitted an offer for Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

It emerged ahead of the January transfer window (Fichajes.net) that Tottenham were tracking Gravenberch, who has established himself as one of Ajax’s most important players over the last two seasons.

The print edition of German publication Kicker (13/03/22 – as relayed by Fussball News) were the first to report last week that Bayern had stepped up their pursuit of the 19-year-old.

De Telegraaf have now revealed that a delegation from Bundesliga giants met with Ajax following their 1-0 loss to Benfica last week and lodged a €25m (£21m) offer for Gravenberch.

However, it is explained that Ajax want at least €35m (£29.4m) to let the teenager go, with Bayern now contemplating whether to increase their offer.

The report further adds that Gravenberch is expected to depart Amsterdam in the summer after his talks with the Eredivisie giants over a new deal broke down.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gravenberch certainly appears to have the talent to evolve into one of the world’s best midfielders over the next few years. However, there is certainly risk involved in buying emerging talents from the Eredivisie as one can never be sure how they would adapt to English football.
