Report: Bayern Munich planning talks with star Spurs allegedly bid for in January

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Bayern Munich plan to hold talks with Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Spence has enjoyed an exceptional campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest, which has brought him to the attention of several Premier League clubs including Spurs.

Antonio Conte’s men reportedly saw a £12m offer for the 21-year-old knocked back by Middlesbrough at the end of January (90min).

The Northern Echo claimed last month that Spurs could face competition from Liverpool and their North London rivals Arsenal for the Championship starlet in the summer.

Plettenberg has now revealed that Spence is of interest to seven different Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Manchester City.

The journalist revealed that Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and two other Spanish clubs also have their eye on the Boro youth academy product.

He asserted that Bayern are set to hold talks this month with the right-back, who is valued at around €10m-€15m (£8.3m- £12.4m).

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs do not tend to get involved in bidding wars and so, if there is as much competition for Spence as reported, the North London club might walk away from the deal.

I would personally prefer to see us go after Tariq Lamptey. Although the Brighton star would be more expensive than the Boro man, his signing would represent much less of a risk, given his experience in the Premier League.
