A new report from Football.London claims there is a belief within Spurs that Antonio Conte is happy with life at the club and feels re-energised after a holiday with his family, which offers fresh hopes that he will sign a new contract.
In just over a year as Spurs manager, Conte has transformed the club’s fortunes on and off the pitch. The Italian guided the club to a fourth-placed finish last season, securing Champions League football for this campaign.
The club’s approach to transfer policy appears to have shifted, too, with a preference for procuring young talent making way for adding ready-made, experienced signings to the squad, like Ivan Perisic and Richarlison.
Antonio Conte’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and the topic of a renewal has been ongoing for months now. There had even been speculation linking Conte with a return to Juventus (28/10/2022 Gazzetta via Sport Witness) though that appears to have disappeared of late.
The Athletic previously reported there was a general confidence that Conte would commit to his future at Spurs. Jack Pitt-Brooke today confirmed to The Athletic that talks would begin with the 53-year-old imminently, though those discussions would hinge on how ambitious the club will be.
Now, the latest from Football.London suggests Conte is happy at the club and should be ready to sign a new deal.
The report claims there is a belief within the club that Conte is “happy at Spurs and has been re-energised after a recent holiday with his family and that there is hope he will put pen to paper on a new deal.”
Spurs Web Opinion
We know Conte doesn’t generally stick around for long, but I honestly think he feels a special connection at Spurs and wants to take on this challenge for the long term. If he is happy, and the club is happy, we should be backing him with everything we have and tie him in for the foreseeable future.
