Report: ‘Best player in the squad’ – Napoli still have high Ndombele hopes

Area Napoli claim that on-loan Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele is seen as being ‘potentially the best player’ in the Napoli squad.

Ndombele completed a loan move to Napoli towards the end of the summer transfer window, with The Times reporting at the time that the Serie A club have the option to buy him permanently for £25m.

The midfielder had a tough start to life at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, having been hooked at half-time in his first couple of starts in the Serie A, and coming under criticism for his displays (Napoli Piu).

However, the 25-year-old did show some promise ahead of the international break, most notably with his impressive cameo off the bench at Ibrox as Napoli emerged 3-0 win against Rangers in the Champions League.

Area Napoli state that despite the impressive start that Luciano Spalletti’s men have made domestically and in Europe, there is still a feeling that they have not fulfilled their potential, particularly given that they have Ndombele in their ranks.

The report states that the midfielder is seen as potentially the best player in the squad and is now trying to find his ‘best form’.

The publication states that there is hope at Napoli that the France international could soon prove ‘decisive’ for the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

The spell at Napoli is Ndombele’s last chance saloon if he is to have any hope of making it at a big club in one of the top five leagues. If the Frenchman fails to fulfil his potential in Naples, I can see his career heading the same way as Dele’s over the next couple of years.
