Report: Big blow for Spurs in Nagelsmann race as Chelsea enter ‘positive’ talks

Tottenham have seemingly been dealt a big blow in the race for Julian Nagelsmann as Chelsea have entered ‘positive’ talks with the former Bayern Munich boss.

Florian Plettenberg has reported that talks with Chelsea are ‘ongoing and positive’, adding that while nothing is certain, things are ‘looking good’ for Nagelsmann.

This information has allegedly come directly from Nagelsmann’s camp, despite Tottenham also showing interest in the German manager.

In fact, Nagelsmann was said to be Tottenham’s top managerial target once Antonio Conte left North London and the 35-year-old parted ways with Bayern (Football Insider).

A spanner was then thrown in the works when Chelsea decided to sack Graham Potter, before contacting Nagelsmann about their newly-vacated managerial position (Fabrizio Romano).

The Times reported that Nagelsmann wanted to wait until the summer before making a decision on his future, but it appears the pull of Chelsea may have altered those plans slightly.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Big clubs move fast and convince big managers to join when they need them. That’s what Chelsea are doing here, and they will likely be successful.

Spurs, on the other hand, have twiddled their thumbs in recent years and either been left with their fifth choice or hired a manager far later than they should have.
