Report: Big-name Spurs summer target set for loan move to another European giant

According to the BBC, Bayern Munich have now agreed a deal to take Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona for the 2019/20 season.

The Brazilian is expected to complete his move in the next few days, with Bayern having an option to buy at the end of the loan period.

The BBC also add that Tottenham ended their interest in a loan move for Coutinho earlier this month, just before the Premier League transfer deadline.

The Mirror claimed that Tottenham were interested in signing the playmaker on deadline day this summer, but withdrew said request after Barcelona revealed how much they wanted.

The Spanish giants apparently wanted £30m in loan fees alone for Coutinho, along with the player’s £10m or so in yearly wages.

Tottenham eventually signed Giovani Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis instead and it is still possible that Christian Eriksen will remain a Spurs player for this season.

However, any hopes of a future deal for Coutinho may now be done.
