Report: Big Six PL rivals are now considering shock move for Spurs midfielder

The Telegraph have claimed that Manchester United are now considering a shock move for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Over the past couple of days, multiple sources have indicated that Sergio Reguilon could be a surprise target for Man Utd following the injury to Luke Shaw (MEN and Lyall Thomas).

It has now emerged that the Red Devils are eyeing another one of Spurs’ fringe players in Hojbjerg, with Erik Ten Hag said to be keen on bolstering his options in the middle of the park.

The Telegraph state that United have been offered a chance to open talks with the Dane as Spurs are keen to offload him before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Atletico Madrid move fell through for Hojbjerg

The report alleges that Tottenham had accepted a £30m offer from Atletico Madrid for Hojbjerg earlier this summer but the player was not able to agree personal terms with the La Liga side.

It is asserted the midfielder even turned down a chance to Saudi Arabia despite being offered a total salary package of £45m.

However, the publication makes it clear that as things stand, Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amarabat remains Man Utd’s top midfield target.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I do think now is the right time for Tottenham to cash in on Hojbjerg, given that he has two years left on his contract, the Dane is by no means a bad player and it would be irresponsible for Spurs to sell him to a direct rival.

I would not have too many complaints if the 28-year-old stayed on as a squad player as he showed against Man Utd and Bournemouth that he can be a useful option to bring on if we want to see out a win.
