Report: Blow for fans as Spurs are unlikely to sign two top targets this month

Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been some of the most patient people in the world of football over the past couple of seasons.

Not only did they have to wait two years, including six months of delays, for their new stadium, but they have also endured nearly a year and a half long transfer drought.

With Lucas Moura being the last signing back in January 2018, many were expecting Tottenham to invest this summer, but no signings have arrived as of yet.

Spurs were said to have bid a club record £53m for Real Betis playmaker Giovani Lo Celso earlier this month, but had it turned down due to his £88m buyout clause (BBC).

Fulham teenager starlet Ryan Sessegnon is also said to desire a move to the North London club this summer in order to play under Pochettino, but no fee has been agreed as of yet (Guardian).

However, Football London have reported that it is unlikely that Spurs will sign either Lo Celso or Sessegnon in June, as they are away with Argentine at the Copa America and England at the U21 Euros respectively.

They also claim that Pochettino being on holiday is another factor hinting towards a lack of transfers until July.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I understand that it is difficult to get Sessegnon or Lo Celso on board while they are playing in international tournaments, but Spurs should be moving heaven and earth to get Tanguy Ndombele on board. As long as Spurs sign their primary targets in good time, I don’t mind if it is June or July, but Levy needs to get his business done.
