Report: Blow for Spurs as transfer target agrees to join Inter Milan instead

Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Tottenham are about to face defeat in their pursuit of Albert Gudmundsson after the Genoa star agreed to join Inter Milan this summer.

Spurs Web has brought you various updates from the Italian press over the last couple of months on Gudmundsson’s future and the general theme of those reports has been that Tottenham are expected to outmuscle Inter financially in the race for the attacking midfielder.

FcInterNews claimed last month that the Nerazurri are aware that their pursuit of the 26-year-old is complicated by Spurs’ presence, given the Premier League side’s ability to offer make a bigger offer to Genoa and present more lucrative terms to the player.

Inter Live suggested a couple of weeks ago that Fabio Paratiic, who works as a consultant for the Lilywhites, is a fan of the Iceland international and is quite dismissive about the competition Inter pose for the versatile attacker.

Gudmundsson wants Inter Milan move

Gazzetta now say that Inter have been working for a few weeks on a deal for Gudmundsson, having spoken to Genoa as well as the midfielder’s entourage.

The outlet claims that the Serie A giants hope to complete a £26m move for the player, who has now ‘given approval’ over a move to the San Siro.

The publication adds that Gudmundsson has decided to give a green light to the transfer as his preference is to remain in Italy this summer rather than move to England.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Gudmundsson’s preference is to stay in Italy, that gives Inter a big advantage. One can understand why the midfielder would be tempted to join Simone Inzaghi’s side, who are likely to be crowned Serie A champions once again this season.
