Report: ‘Boardroom tussle’ going on at Spurs – Involves James Maddison

Football Transfers have revealed that there is an ongoing boardroom tussle at Tottenham regarding whether or not to appoint Brendan Rodgers.

The report states that Tottenham’s executive director Donna-Maria Cullen is pushing for Rodgers to replace Antonio Conte while Daniel Levy is opposed to the idea.

Cullen is thought to believe that the Northern Irishman could persuade James Maddison and Youri Tielemans to follow him to the North London club.

It is explained that Maddison is expected to leave Leicester regardless of whether they stay up while Tielemans is on his way out on a free transfer when his contract runs out in June.

The report states that despite Cullen’s insistence, Levy is not keen on hiring Rodgers and instead has his eye on other managerial candidates.

One of those is thought to be Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner, who the Spurs chairman has allegedly spoken to regarding the vacancy, while the 61-year-old is also said to ‘appreciate’ Ryan Mason.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am hesitant to dismiss Rodgers as not being good enough as one bad season at Leicester does not make him a bad manager.

Two years ago, most Spurs fans laughed off suggestions that Eddie Howe could take over but the Englishman has proved since getting the Newcastle job that the one bad season he had at Bournemouth was merely an anomaly.

The same could be true of Rodgers but he certainly does not match the profile of coach that Tottenham are alleged to be after.
