Report: Boost for Spurs as AC Milan pull out of race for rumoured target

Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Everton are all said to be interested in signing Club Brugge wide-man Arnaut Groeneveld. (Daily Mail)

The pacey wide man has been putting opposition teams to the sword on a regular basis since moving to Brugge from NEC Nijmegen last summer.

Groeneveld’s performances this season have seen him force his way into Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad.

The 22-year-old primarily likes playing on the left and enjoys taking people on. He likes to cut in and take shots at goal.

It was reported in January that AC Milan offered £9 million for the Dutchman’s services but that Club Brugge rejected the offer.

Now, it has been claimed by Calcio Mercato that the player’s representatives have offered Groeneveld to Milan in the summer transfer window but that Rossoneri have instead decided to look for alternative options.

This clears the path for the likes of Everton and Spurs to land the winger in the summer.

While Groeneveld is certainly a talented player, wing-forward isn’t necessarily an area that is a priority for Tottenham in the summer transfer window, with both Son Heung-Min, and Lucas Moura capable of playing in the position.
