Report: Borussia Dortmund enter race for reported Tottenham right-back target

Tottenham Hotspur’s quest to land Achraf Hakimi may have just taken a hit as reports from Spain suggest that Borussia Dortmund are keen to sign him permanently following the conclusion of his loan spell.

Hakimi’s two-year loan spell at Dortmund, which comes to end this summer, has proven quite fruitful for the defender as he has been an important cog in the Lucien Favre machine.

Baldi.net reported last week that his performances in the Bundesliga have caught the attention of Tottenham, as well as their London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, who are all said to be competing for his signature.

The 21-year-old told CadenaSer (as relayed by Goal) recently that he is flattered by the rumoured interest in him but admitted that he is yet to make a decision on his future.

AS now reports that Dortmund are keen to hold on to the Moroccan international for next season. Madrid are said to be working on extending the loan agreement or completing a transfer to make Hakimi’s stay permanent.

It is suggested that Los Blancos could use the young defender as a sweetener to land Erling Haaland from the Bundesliga giants.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Hakimi has blistering pace and has proven that he can be a constant threat down the right-hand side, his defending is a little suspect on occasions. Given that he is not likely to come cheap, I believe Max Aarons would be the more prudent option to go for. The Norwich star will also help us in fulfilling our homegrown criteria.
