Report: Breakthrough in talks for Spurs signing – ‘Total agreement’ reached

Football Insider have claimed that Takehiro Tomiyasu could be the first player to arrive through the door at Tottenham this summer after a breakthrough in the negotiations between the North London club and Bologna.

It was reported last week that Tottenham had two offers rejected for Tomiyasu and were readying a third bid for the defender.

Souces from Italy had indicated that a deal is expected to be agreed between Bologna and Spurs sooner rather than later, with both parties keen on hammering out an agreement.

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, there has now been a significant breakthrough in the negations between the parties.

The report claims that Spurs and Bologna are now ‘close’ to reaching a ‘total agreement’ for Tomiyasu’s sale.

It is said that all parties now expect the deal to go through, with an industry source even being quoted as saying that the 22-year-old “is joining Tottenham”.

Fabio Paratici is said to have also reached an agreement with the defender’s representatives over the terms of a contract.

The fee agreed between Bologna and Spurs for the Japanese international is thought to be around £15.5m including add-ons.

This has all the makings of an astute signing as not only could Tomiyasu cover at right-back but he also gives Nuno more options if the Portuguese coach decides to employ a back three. The fee being reported is quite low and one would imagine that Spurs will make a significant portion of that amount back through shirt sales.
