Report: Brentford ‘edging closer’ to signing 21-year-old linked with Spurs

The Hull Daily Mail have revealed that Brentford are ‘edging closer’ to striking a deal for Hull City winger Keane Lewis-Potter, who was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Sky Sports have also reported that Brentford are close to finalising a £16m deal which could rise to £20m.

Lewis-Potter has enjoyed a breakthrough 2021/22 season at the MKM Stadium, with the winger’s 12 goals and four assists in the Championship (Transfermarkt) helping Hull to preserve their Championship status.

The Daily Mail reported back in March that the 21-year-old was on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham’s interest in the winger was also backed up by The Daily Star, who reported in May that the North London club were continuing to keep a ‘close eye’ on the winger at the recommendation of former manager David Pleat.

However, The Hull Daily Mail have now revealed that Lewis-Potter is close to completing a move to the Brentford Community Stadium.

The report claims that the Bees are the only Premier League club who now have a genuine chance of signing the Championship starlet this summer.

The West London club are said to be Lewis-Potter’s favoured destination, and although Brentford’s latest bid of £16m plus add-ons falls short of the Tigers’ valuation, there is alleged to be a ‘growing belief’ among all parties that a deal can be completed.

Spurs Web Opinion

The main challenge that Tottenham will face in trying to attract the best emerging talent from the EFL is the fact that young players would prefer to move to clubs where they are likely to get regular game time.

The Spence deal is a rare exception as the 21-year-old understandably believes that he can be our starting right-wing-back next season.
