Report: Bruno Fernandes’ new contract ‘doesn’t change a thing for the January transfer window’

Tottenham Hotspur may soon be looking to bring in a new attacking midfielder to add to their ranks if Christian Eriksen is set to leave in the summer.

One would think that Spurs and Levy now have a good grasp on whether Eriksen will be leaving in the next six months or so, but who could they bring in to replace him?

The Lilywhites have been heavily linked with Bruno Fernandes in 2019, even bidding for the player back in the summer transfer window (Standard).

However, the North London side were dealt a blow this week when the Sporting captain penned a new deal with his current club.

While this indicates that Fernandes will not be going anywhere anytime soon, one report claims that the new contract changes nothing with regards to a possible transfer.

Record state that Tottenham’s interest has only grown with the arrival of Mourinho, and that Fernandes would likely be heading to England if Spurs offer €70m in January.
